What Should You Wear on Camera for Your Video? (The WeMOV Styling Guide)

How to Make a Corporate Video That Captivates Your Industry

You make a corporate video that captivates your industry by focusing every fact on the viewer’s benefit, nailing your script structure before you write a word, planning around your audience and objective before the camera comes out, filming with real movement instead of static shots, and treating the edit as part of the creative process rather than a final tidy-up.

A corporate video can do a lot of jobs at once: introduce your brand, walk a new hire through onboarding, put a customer’s testimonial on camera, or show your product doing what it does best. What makes the difference between a video that gets watched and one that gets skipped is whether anyone wants to watch it.

Here are our top five tips for making sure they do.

1. Focus on viewer benefits

Start script planning by working out what you want your audience to know, then how they’ll benefit from it. Shift the focus from ‘we’ to ‘you’ by turning every fact or feature into a ‘so what’ for the viewer, and don’t stop at one ‘so what.’ Ask it twice.

For example:

‘We use a two-camera setup with proper lighting on every shoot.’

So what?

‘Your interviews look professional and natural instead of like an amateur talking-head video.’

So what?

‘That polish is what makes a prospect trust you within the first few seconds of watching.’

2. Nail your script structure

Video lengths keep getting shorter, but sometimes your priority content simply can’t fit into two or three minutes. This is where a considered structure matters: planned highs and lows at every point where your viewer’s attention might drop, whether that’s a change in music, a sound effect, a shift in pace, or an occasional transition. It might also mean breaking one long video into two or three shorter ones.

3. Start with a plan, not the camera

We start by understanding your audience, where the video fits into your broader strategy, and the one essential point it needs to make. Only then do we build the script structure that everything else is built on, so on filming day, everyone’s working from the same brief, and nothing gets missed.

4. Film with movement

Cinematic camera movement can turn an ordinary scene into something worth watching. Drones, stabilised rigs and dollies let a shoot glide, track and fly instead of sitting static, turning plain footage into something your viewer stays with.

5. Treat editing as part of the creative process

The edit is where a plan is followed and adjusted as vision, narration, interviews, music, titles, and graphics come together. It’s only at this stage that you can actually see and hear how the video works as a whole, which is why fine-tuning matters here as much as anywhere else in the process. Three rounds of changes isn’t always enough to get a corporate video genuinely right. This final stage is what takes a video from finished to standout, and as the client, only you know when it’s truly done.
